Alexis Mabille Spring 2010

I know this is a bit dated since my beloved Alexis Mabille has shown his first and latest full menswear collection months ago, but just to share by thoughts about the am-dying-for collection, Alexis Mabille Spring 2010.. bring it on!

As usual, Alexis showed this beautiful collection of his at the Angelina's tea room (also Coco Chanel's favourite hot chocolate café). This particular collection definitely is one of the biggest gifts of the year, as fashionistas around the world were screaming in joy after a long wait since he only showed few menswear pieces during his couture shows in the past seasons.

What i love most about this collection is the fact that it brings androgyny to a whole new level, i mean more dandy and certainly less grungy(which has been shamelessly enjoyed by billions of people around the world for so many seasons).. dont get me wrong, its not that i dont like skinny pants(in fact, i wear them all the time), it's just that androgyny fashion today has been a lil too trashy, with all the over-whelming mismatched colours and torn patterns all over the place.

it is such a relief that we get to finally see a well-dressed androgyny looks, thanks to the great Alexis Mabille! in this collection, every single piece has that certain edge which allows you to mix it with any of your wardrobe staple, so u dont have to feel bad about missing out anything.

as deadly beautiful as this collection may seem, there is still a catch, as men.style.com put it, "..there was an element of unabashed campness present.." . However, mind you, they also stated.. ".. but, the archness of the presentation truly suited the clothes." So, I believe that means there is no reason to hate this collection, whatsoever.

Even the designer himself looks fantabulous in his own creations!

i love playing which-piece-most-deserves-to-die-for game whenever a collection comes out, and am always pretty happy with the outcomes. However, i really had a hard time on this particular collection and finally give in! the result, EVERYTHING! it's just hard not to fall head over heels in love with any of the pieces in this collection, so, i believe that is the truly fair verdict! :-)

wish i could buy the whole collection!

love is all around! Ayah, my Timex, Acap, and Scott Schuman!

so, the other day, i was on msn with my celebrity bff, Acap (yes, he's way more fab than Nicole Richie)..

he told me about his new fondness of shades and showed this one picture on thesartorialist.blogspot.com, wondered what i thought about that kind of shades. well, Acap, i love it! it suits u! i love u even more since the picture also highlighted that bloody gorgeous watch!

hehe, the truth is, I own a watch that is almost exactly the same as the one that the gentleman in the picture is wearing! i bet his is way more pricey than mine. but, heck, I love my Timex!

my dad bought me a Timex chronograph that has pretty much the same design as the gentleman's watch.. off-white dial and super cool brown leather band! love u, ayah! i have always loved and fancied my watch even though its not like those diabolically expensive high-end watches, and i love it even more after seeing this picture.

thanks to Scott Schuman (the sartorialist) for the much appreciated watch highlight, love ya!

STF Band .. Spirit, Solid, Smart!

This post is shamelessly about my long time favourite marching band, STF (Sekolah Tun Fatimah) marching band! :-)

So, people have been arguing about the fact that STF (who represented Johore) came out third runner up during recent 2009 National Competition. well, I dont blame them, some got points, the rest are just trash talking.. that said, I still believe that STF band has still got those x-factors that other bands dont. not enough to make them a winner, i know! but, come on, Malaysia isnt USA, and no band in Malaysia has any close resemblance of American DCI except VICCB(which apparently the only one that does a little). even the great and much loved Asma Band, doesnt. that said, Asma still manage to be one of the best marching band around (locally and internationally), and they are certainly competing in their own league. DCI is huge, I mean super huge.. Malaysia's marching band has its very own style, standard and format which, apparently arent like others. So, can we just enjoy the differences, and let the best band win?

Am not defending STF band(thats a lie, I know! hehe), but I guess am just speaking up my mind. no hard feeling, ya?

Enough with the argument, lets get back to business, STF Band that is!

I love their performance during the recent competition. considering the fact that they have been showing some not-so-good(I would have said 'bad' based on some videos I saw on youtube) performances in the past few years, i guess this one would be like a gift to their loyal fans(frankly speaking, i dont think this is the appropriate term, LOL). but whatever, lets check the performance out!

First off : Uniform.. WHY?????????????????????????

I was trying so hard to spot the fabulously blue pants, traditionally worn by STF Band, and they weren't around! and all of sudden, I saw this group of girls with a familiar headgear and white boots on, they were doing their warm-up somewhere in the parking lot.. there they are, STF Band, also in black considerably-tight overall. and I was like.... *&^$^%#@?
what the hell just happened? ok, new uniform.*trying to digest*. i love changes, evolution, that is, but always for the better! and that was the moment I thanked God for not letting me do a rendition of STF Band's original uniform.. red top, blue pants, and white shoes. Oh, yes, I was thinking of wearing those, before I decided to pull off a tourist-look.

they had red tops to go with the black overalls which i have to say, am not really keen on. then, it suddenly dawn on me why I love their original uniform so freaking much, the colour combination that is! black and red is not a bad combination, in fact it is nice for marching bands, just like other bands.. NICE? JUST LIKE OTHER BANDS? these things scream "mediocre", which is just as no good in fashion.

come to think of it, I cant hate the new uniform that much, considering the fact that it was a wise decision to put on black pants since the floor was in blue. I have to admit that the contrast colour really worked.

and thanks to the headgear and their much-loved white boots for saving the whole look! Kudos! :-)

HL hearts the boots!
warming-up...

Now, here they are, ready to kick some asses!..

Strike a pose, take that! *this my most favourite pose of all, SHARP that is!*

The performance.. *I dont really remember the songs title played during the performance (except enjit-enjit semut and jing ling nona), so any help would be much appreciated*

The uber-fierce percussion girls..

Gimmicks..

CATWALK.. definitely the best marching band gimmick of all time! This might possibly inspire Anna Wintour to have marching band girls in Vogue!

Hail to the Queen..

Leaving the arena..

Random pictures after the performance...

Result:
  1. Gold Award
  2. 3rd runner-up
  3. Best preparation (they have been winning this every year, I believe) -->this award has a lot to do with uniform(read:style), so, you know no band is better than STF's when it comes to this department.
  4. 3rd Best Colour Guards

Well, I guess that's all..

Best wishes to STF Band, for more fabulous seasons to come!
