Alexis Mabille Spring 2012 Menswear

One may wonder if Alexis Mabille menswear ever grows and if dynamism does exist when all you get are flared top and super tight-crotch pants. Well, I believe if your signature style is that good, why bother anything else. At least while it’s still thought to be that good. Alexis is one of those few designers that haven’t been consumed by the mass market and big luxury conglomerate, focussing on a probably very specific clientele. Considering what he’s done season after season, by being so vocal about his independent point of view yet still manage to get away with it must mean he’s done something right.

I personally love everything that he has to offer. However, I must say that my admiration for Mabille’s design is very very personal. After all, I’m all for androgyny. Flared silhouette and shawl lapels may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it works for me.

For spring 2012, Alexis Mabille was exploring the beauty of mens undergarments further. The huge array of tailored underwear that was presented in the collection must mean that his uber luxe underwear line is doing very well. However, I must say that from buyer’s perspective, the price of Mabille underwear could be a little exorbitant, even by the standard of luxury market in general. But, if the rich and famous decide to spend 200 euros on a piece of underwear, who am I to comment. Had I had the same purchasing power, I would so totally do the same thing. Owh, well. ;p
