John Galliano Spring 2012 Menswear by Bill Gaytten

John Galliano spring 2012 by Bill Gaytten probably was indeed as Galliano as it used to be. It was good to see that Gaytten did not go at the other end. There was no sign that the house is going minimalist at all. Thank goodness! John Galliano without flamboyance is like Chanel without interlocked-C. Flamboyance has literally become Galliano’s logo, so kudos to Gaytten for keeping that up.

That said, I thought this particular collection for spring 2012 was a little all over the place. Big Spash inspired by David Hockney's A Bigger Splash was just a little vague to me. The way I saw it, there were English dapper, Cavalli-clad rock-star, Paul Smith preppy and the list goes on and on. Not that I don’t like the collection, but I wish the direction was more singular for consistency sake. Flamboyance he may be, but John certainly no short of a master of execution.

One thing that I actually really really like about the collection is this superbly cool print. It instantly reminded me of Deyrolle pour Opening Ceremony capsule collection. I just love the print, the colour was right, the fabric was right, they were very very cool pieces. I really wish Gaytten would have applied the print on jackets and suits.

The rest of the collection..
