Walter Van Beirendonck Spring 2012 Menswear

Ruffles galore in a candy store is how I would describe Walter Van Beirendock in a sentence. Walter is anything but dreary, that is for sure. And as gimmicky as his spring 2012 collection, I could still totally see most of the pieces surviving reality. Again, it is just a matter of styling, and for Walter’s runway show, it was a perfect job.

I especially adore those ruffle pieces. I can’t imagine how one could possibly rock those things in public, not even in the mad Shinjuku, but I would personally want to own every single piece to play with numerous times. I mean seriously, how amazing it is to sink yourself in those fluffy wicked creations?

Owh, and this ruffle tops would make amazing party frocks!

Showmanship aside, I really thought Walter did a fantastic job with the colour palette. I would totally consider it as an ethereal shade of pastel. He successfully put joyfulness to the pale pastel and made everything look happy instead of sad and sloppy. *well, you have to excuse the models’ facial expressions though* And the patterns on the fabrics were just brilliant. Checkered, floral, geometric, plus some patchwork details, they really turn out great.

I also thought this cut-out/shredded knit top was tres tres chic. Definitely is something that I would wear at any instant without any second thought. It could easily be worn over a very basic white shirt and look partly casual, partly fashion maniac.
